NAPS will be closed December 21- January 8 for the
winter break. The school will reopen on Monday, January 11, 2010. Please Note the
winter break schedule, made available in May 2009, is in keeping with the Naval
AcademyÕs 2009-2010 calendar and is a week longer than many other local
schools. Friday, December 18 is a half-day for all students. NO EXTENDED CARE AVAILABLE.
Pizza Lunch will be served Thursday, December 3 and December
10 ONLY! California Tortilla
Lunch will be served Tuesday, December 1, 8, and 15.
Lunchtime Milk will no longer be offered as of
January 2010. The majority of milk
cartons remain nearly full after the meal. We believe most parents assume the milk is consumed, and therefore
do not realize the level of waste and unnecessary spending. Please remember to pack a lunch drink
in January.
The Christmas Pageant is scheduled for Thursday,
December 17, in Mahan Hall.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students, dressed in formal uniform,
must arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m., as the performance begins promptly at
7:00 p.m. While PK students do not
participate, all NAPS families are invited to attend.
Holiday Parties are scheduled for Thursday,
December 17 for PK2 and Friday, December 18, for PK3-5th grades. PK
classes will dismiss slightly early on Friday to avoid over crowding and
congestion during the all school dismissal at 11:45 am.
December Dress Down Day is scheduled for this Friday,
December 4. All proceeds will be
used to support the Walter Reed Pediatric Oncology Ward. Ashton Ebert, NAPS grad and son of our
own kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Ebert, is currently a patient at the
facility. Your participation in
this fundraising event is especially appreciated. See the enclosed flyer for more details.
Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for Saturday,
December 5. Participants must pre-register
to attend. Limited seats are still available during the 10:30 seating. Adults are $10 each and children $8
each. Please contact Chris Daley
for reservations and information at 410.757.3090 or cdaley@napschool.com.
Changes and New Extended Care sign-ups
are due Friday, December 4. If you
wish to use the service for drop-in, or would like to change your current
schedule, please contact May Brady for a new form. First semester drop-in users will be billed automatically for
the second semester unless we are otherwise notified. If your schedule remains the same, there is no need to
complete a second semester form.
Pasta Orders are due Wednesday, December
2. Orders will be delivered before
the holiday break.
Temporary Winter Break Childcare is available
at the Billy the Kid Youth Center located on the Naval Station. Call 410.293.9396 or 410.293.4997/4998
for more information and eligibility.
New
Pixie Software has
been installed in our new computer lab!
The 2-5th graders are very excited about Pixie, a paint and creativity
software program that allows students to combine original art, clip art, text,
photos, etc. to create their own stories, movies, comics, trading cards, and
more. Pixie is distributed and sold by Tech4Learning Company. A
parent purchase program allows parents to purchase Pixie software for
only $25 (regularly $55) with our school's special discount code. If you
are interested in purchasing this software for your PC or Mac, please email
Mrs. Henderson (lhenderson@napschool.com)
for details. You can find out more about Pixie and Tech4learning at: www.tech4learning.com
