NAPS closes at 11:45 AM for all students on Wednesday, May 25.  NO EXTENDED CARE AVAILABLE.


The last day of school, Friday, May 27 is an all-school dismissal at 11:45 am for PK3 through fourth grade students.  However, as a party day, it is a dress-down day for everyone.  No donation required!  Reservations are required for all those intending to use Extended Care.   Extended Care closes at 4 p.m. for all students.


NAVAL ACADEMY BRIDGE CLOSURES must be taken into consideration on both Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25.  It is incumbent upon parents to develop a route and schedule for carpool pick-up.    

The bridge will be closed for the Blue Angels’ practice and performance as follows:

            Tuesday, May 24              Closed 10:45 AM – 1 PM

                                                              Closed   1:45 - 4 PM           


            Wednesday, May 25        Closed   1:45 - 4 PM


The NAPS Award Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25 at 9 a.m.  Kindergarten – fifth grade students will participate in the ceremony, which is held on the P.E. blacktop.  Parents and friends are welcome to attend.  However, kindergarten students primarily watch the ceremonies and only a few receive the physical fitness award.  Kindergarten parents may wish to consider this when making a decision to attend.


In the event of inclement weather, two ceremonies will be held on the porch.  Kindergarten, first, and second grade classes will receive their awards at 9 a.m. and third, fourth, and fifth grade students will gather at 10 a.m.


Final Chick-Fil A lunch will be served on Tuesday, May 24.  This is a snow day make-up lunch.  The final pizza lunch is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17.


Graduation Ceremonies for our fifth grade students will be held Thursday, May 26 at 1 p.m., on the front lawn of the school.   Fifth graders should arrive at noon in the formal uniform.   Friday, May 27 is not a school day for the graduates.  Fifth grade families will have the opportunity to savor one last NAPS memory in the form of casual photos of your fifth grader and a beautiful, bound memory book of fifth grade.  Look for more details as we approach graduation.


Uniform Exchange is scheduled for Friday, May 27.  Tables will be set-up around the circle or in the foyer in the event of inclement weather.  Gently used uniform pieces will be available for you to take without charge.  Donations of uniforms your child has out grown are greatly appreciated, however a donation is not required.   Fifth grade parents are encouraged to donate, as we are always looking for the larger sizes.


A final 2010-2011 School Year Invoice will be issued in the May 24 Tuesday Envelope.  The invoice will include miscellaneous charges incurred during the month of May such as fieldtrips, occasional extended care and lunches.  Payment of these fees is due in full on June 20, 2011.  Only those families with an account balance will be issued an invoice.


NAPS Camp runs from May 31 – June 15.  Space remains available in each weekly session.  If you would like more information or a registration form, please contact May Brady at


Graduating and Departing Students must settle all financial obligations before academic files are released.  Records will be ready for release June 13.  Please complete a records release form to indicate how you wish to handle the transfer of academic records.  Forms were sent home in a previous Tuesday Envelope, or a new one can be found in the Admissions Office.  Contact Melanie Pasiuk at for further details.


Current second, third and fourth grade students will receive their two summer reading books the last week of school.  The books are required reading, and children are expected to bring the books with them on the first day of the 2011-2012 school year.   Parents are asked to ensure the selections are read, and students are prepared to participate in classroom discussions and activities.  


New Logo & Uniform Update – Please be advised that while neither Land’s End nor Flynn & O’Hara will be selling any pieces with the old logo, there will be a short transition period before items with the new logo are available.  Complete details and ordering information will be published in the June Information Packet.


For any families that must have replacement pieces between now and the end of school, please take a look at our Uniform Exchange items.  Any uniform pieces in the exchange are yours for the taking. 


Congratulations goes to four of our NAPS staff members!  Meredith Brooks, Kristin Parreira, and Jennifer Schrader have all earned their Master’s Degree in Education and Meaghan Dunn has earned her Master’s in International Politics.  We are proud of their accomplishments and feel fortunate to have such dedicated educators on staff!


The 2011-2012 First Day of School is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 23rd.  A DRAFT 2011-2012 School Year Calendar will soon be available on the website,  Please remember the posted information is tentative.  A final edition will be posted as soon as possible, and included in the June mailing no later than June 17.
